Melena has an innate ability to quickly develop a comfortable, honest and trusting relationship with the actors, singers and dancers she progresses during the creation process. Be it behind the camera or for live stage productions, Melena is experienced in coaching stars, icons, actors and singers in their choreography and movement. She is proficient in progressing their level of comfort in conjunction with the staging and sequencing so that the steps may begin to flow as dialogue and an authentic connection is built to the movement. Melena has worked one-on-one with many entertainers and brands, including Elvira ‘Mistress of the Dark’, Honda, Coco of E!’s ‘Ice Loves Coco’, Disney, Sofia Carson, Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, BooBoo Stewart, Knott’s Berry Farm, Chris Katan, Big Bird & the list goes on…
Sharing and passing down knowledge is an inspiring role. And to know you are playing a part in the shaping of their talent and craft is not a task I take casually. Finding new and different ways to instill confidence and communicate ideas and concepts is a welcomed challenge with gratifying rewards to me.
Melena has travelled the world and taught in many countries over the last 15 years including Mexico, Austraila, Canada & the United States. Teaching a variety of styles from jazz, to hip hop & heels classes, Melena has been a special guest instructor on many dance conventions including The Hollywood Summer Tour, Hollywood Dance Jamz, Global Dance Convention, Thunderstruck Canada & Access Broadway. She has adjudicated and educated at a variety of competitions and summer intensives, including assisting Cirque du Soleil at The Dance Awards in Orlando, and Dancerpalooza in Long Beach, CA. Melena enjoys sharing her passion and knowledge for all that is dance with every aspiring dance artist she encounters.
